On Saturday 3rd of February, Vin, our Member of Youth Parliament, met Evangeline at Asda in St.Helen’s to assist a local food pantry. The Hope pantry were there handing out leaflets; they did this in hopes of raising food donations for the people of St.Helens.
Here, Vin was able to speak to the key individuals of the Hope Pantry and was able to reflect on some of their ideas that may be implemented into the FeedTheNeed campaign.
We talked to many people, listening to various stories about living conditions, financial struggles and their quality of life. Most ended up resorting to food banks/pantries, some saying it saved their lives.
This is why we need to push for a fairer food system because everyone has the right to food. As young people, we need to challenge food poverty and insecurity to ensure that our present and futures are protected, our basic human rights are protected. #FeedTheNeed
